Bio: After graduating from San Francisco Art Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in painting, I found myself captivated by the awe-inspiring aesthetics of volcanos that proliferate throughout Oregon. The landscapes that have sprung from the aftermath of their fiery eruptions captivated my imagination and drove me to capture their elegance on canvas. I am running my own painting and drawing studio professionally as Studio Chimaera (e-mail: studiochimaera@efn.org).

Now I find myself painting in thread-bare layers of oil paint by pushing its rich pigment to the outermost limit -- all with the potentially volatile nature of composite volcanos etched away in the back of my mind. The crusts containing the explosive "fire mountains" stretches thinner with every passing year...

And I stretch the essence of that ever-present danger to the intricate beauty of the rapid-paced movements of fire dancers --frozen in time on the canvas. To capture such brilliant quickness, I find extra-fine oil paint that's rich in bright pigments works the best. The drawings of my cougars are rendered in Pigma Micron 0.20 mm line width archival ink on archival paper.
