Artist Statement:
My interest in art began at an early age and it has always been a part of my life but it wasn’t until I retired that I have been able to make it my focus.
I taught elementary school for over 30 years. Working in California initially and then going out of the United States to teach in various foreign
countries for six years. I finished my career here in Eugene retiring from Eugene 4J in 2001. I integrated art in all curriculum areas when teaching.
Now I have freedom to explore and evolve as an artist.
Acrylics is a new medium for me. I am having fun trying different techniques including experimenting with color, paint application and adding collage for texture to my paintings.
My subject matter is influenced by my experiences living in foreign countries. I have traveled extensively and the color and excitement of other cultures has been a major source of inspiration. I prefer to paint portraits and figures but have been exploring different ways to do landscapes.
