Statement:
My art reflects a preoccupation with figures and places mirroring a mood or environment or psychological state that is prserved for fleeting moment on paper or canvas. A woman's figure, a dead rose, bars of a cage, stairs, walls, etc... are the usual suspects meaningfully albeit inexpertly rendered in two-dimensional form to calm my nervous energy and hopefully interest a few fellow, maybe psychically compatible humans. If not, I still get to calm the nervous energy and translate some images, experiment with color and form, and enjoy a process of creation that with practice and discipline may one day possess poetry and vision.
Biography:
I was born in New Orleans in 1968, long before the levees broke and was subsequently transplanted to Maine. From there I lived in New York, Georgia, Colorado, and here in Eugene, where I've had two children ages 11 and 3 and created some drawings and paintings. In New York I earned a B.A. in English and Psychology in 1991. At Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia I studied drawing and painting, but I hope to advance my skill particularly in the latter discipline to be more commercially successful as well as technically accomplished.
