Oils / Computer GraphicsStatement:
I like to paint in oils with lots of detail. I paint as close as I can to what the human eye can see. Light and shadows play a very important part in my paintings, especially with old buildings and structures.
I have always admired Thomas Kinkade, "The Painter of Light." I believe his paintings show just how beautiful light, shadow and reflections can really be in a painting.
My second choice of medium is computer art. I fell in love with Adobe Photoshop, nine years ago and when I am not busy with my home graphics business, I alternate my time between my oil painting and my computer art.Biography:
I was born in Red Bluff, California in 1940. I started drawing when I was in the first grade. I used to get in trouble with my teachers for doing art drawings instead of my schoolwork.
My brother, who is a retired commercial artist helped me a lot with perspective but most of my art training has been self-taught through books from the library and studying other people's work.
After retiring from the printing trade in 2001, as a pressman, I found that I had more time to devote to my oil painting and computer art. Between my oil painting, my home graphics business and my computer art, I stay very busy. I have found out that retirement is not such a bad thing after all.
